For over 15 years, during the month of November, which recognizes Alzheimer's Awareness Month, Dr. H. Murray Todd, a leading Neurologist in both Florida and Broward County, has appeared as the special guest on "Spotlight on Seniors." Pictured with Ms. Lederberg, Dr. Todd's latest show was titled "Alzheimer's Is an Ageless Adversary."

The October program, "You Are the Key to Healthy Living," featured Martha Pelaez, Ph.D., Healthy Living Initiative Director, Health Foundation of South Florida, and Shirley Snipes, Planning Director, ADRC. Through a grant, provided by the Foundation, the ADRC offers educational workshop sessions designed to assist seniors who are disproportionately affected by chronic disease, to take more control of their own health through lifestyle and behavior changes.

Appearing during the September program, "State Legislative Session 2009 - Preview of 2010," was State Senator Nan Rich. Senator Rich also was one of 10 seniors elected to the Broward Senior Hall of Fame in 2009.

Sharing the August "Spotight on Seniors" program were David Lieberman and Paula Layne. These two long time advocates for the Broward's seniors are Fundraising Co-Chairs of the ADRC's Advisory Council. The topic of their show was "Volunteers Lead Senior Drive," as they discussed ongoing and future fundraising activities at the ADRC.

In July, Ms. Lederberg welcomed her personal physician, D. Amal Hanna, M.D., who often treats patients at the North Broward Medical Center. Dr. Hanna's program was titled "Caring and Talent Are a Positive Prescription."

In May, Deborah Rand, 3rd Vice President, Areawide Council on Aging, as well as her husband, Dr. William Rand, of the Rand Eye Institute, and son, Dr. David Rand, a recent graduate of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, appeared on "Brilliant Minds Envision the Future."

In January, Jean Johnson and Betty Priscak,two highly esteemed volunteers in the Broward Senior Hall of Fame, appeared on "Wisdom is the SAGE Agenda." Jean is a Member of the Areawide Council on Aging Board of Directors. Betty serves as Membership Co-Chair on the Aging & Disability Resource Center's Advisory Council. SAGE is Seniors Active in a Gay Environment.
