Elizabeth C. Dawson has lived in Broward for over 41 years. As a member of the Lions Club, Elizabeth served as the first female president of the Florida Lions Eye Bank. The Eye Bank at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is a Lions Project dedicated to the retrieval, grading and dispensing of Corneal Tissue to hospitals throughout South Florida.
Ms. Dawson also is a member of the Research Committee at the Eye Bank, and has several 5 year terms as the Chairman of the Committee. The Research Committee determines funding grants from the Eye Bank to laboratories at the University of Miami to further research into eye related problems and illnesses.
As an active member of the Seniors Advisory Community Council of Broward Health for over 15 years, she is involved with delivering outstanding health to Broward’s senior population. Elizabeth also visits local hospitals to ensure the admissions office inquires and informs incoming patients about the organ donor program.
For her active participation and concern for the health and well being of Broward’s elders, Ms. Elizabeth Dawson is an admirable candidate for election to the Broward Senior Hall of Fame.
