The Fort Lauderdale Story Slam is a storytelling contest that features people telling 5-7 minute true stories about their own lives. The performers include both novices and seasoned storytellers, and at every event the stories cover a wide range of human experience, from the utterly silly to the deeply profound. There is $100 prize money for the favorite story of the night, and two $50 prizes for the runners-up. Funding for this project is provided in part by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners as recommended by the Broward Cultural Council.
